The DJI drones, which have recently become available to private users, achieve performance levels that can hardly be achieved by professional copiers, while they are only a fraction of the cost and are also amazingly small. Due to our experience in building the smallest thermal imaging devices, it was obvious to add our modules to the existing state-of-the-art drone technology. Such systems can be used both for the most different employments in the rescue of persons or animals, the control of technical plants or the support with the hunt (e.g. wild boar). The drone operation is hardly heavier than that of the commercially available small drone without a thermal imaging gondola. By programming waypoints, areas can be reliably searched. The flying time of the drone is only slightly reduced by the low additional weight.
Thermal imaging cameras have become an important topic in recent decades. In combination with drones, they have already been able to revolutionize established areas of application. They are invaluable in the areas of industry and construction, fire-fighting, law enforcement, hunting, wildlife observation and rescue as well as rescue operations and in the search for missing persons. The combination with a dual screen has proved to be particularly effective: The thermal image assists in tracing, while the daylight image facilitates orientation.
